Bars, restaurants and hotels in the Austin area sold an estimated $42.8 million worth of alcohol during February, an American-Statesman analysis of data from the Texas comptroller’s office found.
That’s almost $2 million more than the same month a year ago, an increase of about 5 percent. The amount of taxes the state took in – $6 million – was also up about 5 percent.
