NEW DETAILS: Man killed in suspected road rage shooting in Northeast Austin was 48


Police have identified a man who was gunned down in Northeast Austin on Tuesday afternoon in a suspected road rage incident as 48-year-old Alfred A. Lockett.

Emergency responders received reports of a shooting in a CVS parking lot at the intersection of East Parmer Lane and Dessau Road around 4:31 p.m.

Medics arrived within minutes and found Lockett near a sedan with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at 4:48 p.m., police said.

Witnesses told investigators that the shooter was a man driving a red sedan and wearing a white T-shirt and blue jeans.

Police are going through surveillance footage from security cameras to see if the deadly encounter was recorded. Investigators are also trying to determine how or if the two men knew each other.

An autopsy on Lockett was underway Wednesday morning, police said.
