Who’s on the list to pick up your child from camp?

OK, you’ve made your camp decisions. Often, camps — especially sleep-away camps — will have additional paperwork that needs to be filled out after registering. This is the time when you will provide medical documents such as shot records, insurance cards and a doctor’s activities clearance form. You also might need to sign your child up for special activities the camp offers.

Most camps have you fill out a form to list all the people who are allowed or not allowed to pick up your child from camp. Think about worse-case scenarios. If you were not able to pick her up, who would? If an emergency happened, who could get your child the quickest? Err on the side of throwing more people on the list than you think you will need. Sometimes, you’ll need to provide a driver’s license number as well as the person’s name.

Talk to the people on your list now so they are not surprised if something should happen, and make sure you have the best contact information for them.
