Pixar streaming short film with adorable message

Chances are, if you've seen Pixar's "Finding Dory," you've seen the short film that screened before the movie played in theaters.

For those who haven't seen it, "Piper," a short film written and directed by Alan Barillaro, is now streaming for free online.

"Piper" tells the story of a baby seagull and its quest to grow up by learning more skills and becoming more self-sufficient.

When the parent gull informs the baby gull, presumably Piper, that she will be responsible for finding her own food, Piper is initially confused. Then, she's determined.

But when a strong wave swallows the young bird while she's seeking food, Piper isn't so confident in her hunting skills.

It isn't until Piper sees the process from a different perspective that she understands the best way for her to help herself and her family.

In six minutes and with no dialogue, Pixar delivers an inspiring message about overcoming one's fears and embracing the unknown.

Students dream up sweet, 'smart' take on chips and dip

Creating a recipe "from scratch" can be hard to do - or a piece of cake, as a team of six students at Washington Irving Middle School in Springfield, Virginia, found out recently. They had to come up with an original after-school or breakfast "smart snack" that was healthful yet tasty enough that their friends would want to eat...
