Target sets opening date for new store near UT campus

Target has set an opening date for its new small-scale store near the University of Texas campus.

A “soft opening” will take place from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 11, followed by a full-scale grand opening celebration that kicks off at 8 a.m. Nov. 12.

The store, which was initially set to make its debut in July, is located in the Dobie Twenty21 development at 2021 Guadalupe St.

The UT Target will have fewer items than a traditional Target store because of its reduced square footage. It will sell an assortment of groceries, dorm and apartment essentials, technology products and accessories, men’s and women’s clothing, and health and beauty items.

Parking for customers will be available in the garage next to the Dobie Twenty21 building.

The UT Target store employs about 60 workers and will be the retailer’s 16th location in the Austin area.
