Silicon Laboratories reports second quarter earnings


Austin-based chip maker Silicon Laboratories Inc. reported that revenue in the second quarter increased from a year ago but fell from the previous quarter.

The company reported revenue of $141.5 million, up 4.3 percent from a year ago, but down 2.6 percent from the first quarter.

The company reported a profit of $12.6 million compared with $20.5 million a year ago.

Silicon Labs makes a wide range of mixed-signal chips that include controllers, timing devices, network access chips and FM radio and tuners.

The company has about 1,000 employees worldwide, including more than 550 at its headquarters in downtown Austin.
